Matkan aikana laskeudutaan Kilpisjärveltä noin 500 metrin korkeudelta alas vuononrantaan, missä Jäämeren rannalla kasvaa sankka havumetsä ja vastarannalla kohoavat Lyngenin alpit jäätiköineen. Perillä nautitaan retkieväitä nuotion äärellä. Mukaan kannattaa varata uimapuku ja pyyhe, sillä retkellä on mahdollisuus pulahtaa Jäämereen.
